Bowen offers many opportunities for personal pampering that its role as a retreat would suggest. At On the Sea, you may enjoy a chair massage or reflexology treatment in the privacy of your suite with a little advance planning. Alternatively, you may wish to enjoy a full range of spa services from our local, full-service spas.
Arts, Culture and Shopping
Unique shops and galleries are congregated in Snug Cove and Artisan square. Bowen Island is recognized as having a thriving arts community. According to the official Bowen tourism site, approximately 400 artists live and work here, inspired by the natural wonders and more leisurely pace of island life. Galleries are scattered throughout the island, with many artist home studios open to the public.
Visitors will find a wide range of arts and crafts to view and purchase, from sculptures in wood or metal, to furniture, pottery, or guilded glass. If you like to shop, please visit our many quaint boutiques where you may spoil yourself with an array of unique hand-made soaps, jewellery and clothing. Alternatively, you may indulge in more traditional fare such as giftware, flowers, or gourmet foods such as organic chocolates from our local chocolatier. Bowen Island also boasts a charming Summer Market in Snug Cove that offers a cornucopia of locally grown food and locally made goods. There is something for everyone! The market is open from early July until early September.
